Sole Serum (Catherine) 8-19-15_6

How many of us women look at that pair of amazing heels and say “I wish I could wear those beauties without wanting to throw them out the window?”  On so many occasions I have said these very words and cursed both my shoes and feet while trying to finish off my perfect outfit with the perfect pair of heels, but the pain and pinching that comes with wearing heels just made me look at my flats with both distain and appreciation. Distain because it was not the look I wanted and appreciation because I knew my feet will thank me later. Just as I thought heels were no longer an item I could realistically wear and only admire, I came across this beauty gem, no a beauty MUST HAVE, the MUST have is Sole Serum!

Sole Serum (Catherine) 8-19-15_7

The discovery happened one day as I was viewing my Instagram feed and saw a few of my favorite beauty gurus posting pictures of this very cute, mint green bottle while they massaged their feet with the hashtag of Sole Serum.  So naturally, I clicked on the hashtag and my whole world changed. I ordered Sole Serum the next day and as an avid Disneyland fanatic, I use this product on my feet before heading to the park for a fun filled day and it’s AMAZING!  I have no pain in my feet during my visit.  What really made me a “Sole Survivor” was the next day after spending all day in the park, my feet were not tired or sore, that’s when I knew this product was a complete game changer! I then put it to the heel test during a good friend’s wedding, I massaged Sole Serum onto my feet, allowed the product to dry, slipped on my heels and I danced the night away in celebration of my friends new life journey, with NO PAIN!

What makes Sole Serum work is the perfect blend of proprietary ingredients including peppermint and tea tree oil, but the pièce de résistance ingredient is lidocaine. Combining all of these together makes for a pain-relieving powerhouse, allowing you to enjoy all your heels without the pinch and the pain they bring!

Now that you know about Sole Serum and how it works, I am happy to bring you the creator and founder of Sole Serum, Tricia Andrews.

Headshot 1

I had the privilege of interviewing her for my blog and learned how Sole Serum came to be. Tricia comes from an advertising background, she spent 12 years hitting the pavement while working for Turner Broadcasting and Cartoon Network and along with that came long, hurtful hours in heels.  It was from that she created Sole Serum, a luxury beauty product to help aid busy, heel wearing women.

In my interview I learned more about the future of Sole Serum and I am so honored to have been able to get to know who Tricia Andrews is and what keeps her so driven and so began my interview.

Before I begin, I want to say congratulations on becoming a new Mom, being a Mom to a now 24-year son, it’s the best job you will ever have.

Me:  I have done some research on you (via Google) and your professional history is so very different from where you are today, having worked at Cartoon Network and Turner Broadcasting in advertising sales as well as founding organizations such as Givebones which helps give back to rescue organizations and shelters for dogs, Giveback Homes which helps build safe homes to give to families in need and then you have Sole Serum. With a resume that possess such diversity what drives you everyday to continue to do the work that has now labeled you both as entrepreneur and philanthropist?

Tricia:  First of all, I love that you did research on me before this interview. I think it’s a true sign of someone who really cares about their work : ) And yes, I’ve had some diverse experience, but I’ve never really thought of it that way. I’m a naturally driven person and I truly just love to work, especially for things that I have passion for. Plus, I just really believe that hard work pays off. I love how with being an entrepreneur, I’m able to see that hard work come to fruition.

Me:  What inspired you to create Sole Serum?

Tricia:  NECESSITY! Honestly, it was a product that I needed, but it didn’t exist in the market. As you know, my background is TV Ad Sales and I spent 12 years pounding the pavement. I was constantly on-the-go in heels and needed something to help as I stood in presentations, shifting from one foot to the other…grimacing in pain. I had tried other products, but nothing worked for me. So, one thing led to another and before I knew it, we were meeting with chemists to come up with the perfect formula. After nearly a year of formulation and the FDA compliancy process, we were able to launch Sole Serum.

Me:  While working in advertising, how do you think that helped shape you as the leader and innovator?

Tricia: I don’t know if it was so much the industry that I was, but more Turner Broadcasting, the company that really shaped me in my professional career. My experience there was invaluable because of their extremely high standards and competitiveness. When I was starting out as a Sales Assistant, my Account Executive sat me down and laid out some fundamentals. Always be prepared! You should never walk into a client meeting without having read as much information as you can and formulating three questions. If you don’t have good points to address in the meeting, then you aren’t adding value to the meeting. He never treated me like an assistant in the sense that I should be there to simply take notes. He wanted me to learn and begin to cultivate my own relationships. Also, my SVP at the time had the motto of “just get it done”. He didn’t care if you couldn’t figure something out – you were never to come to him with a question that you didn’t at least have a partial answer for. It was harsh at the time, but it has never left me. There is always a way to figure something out. Please don’t tell me that you can’t, as that is not an option.

Me:  Since the birth of Sole Serum how has your life changed and what challenges are you now deal with in balancing work and being a new Mom?

Tricia:  Oh geez, in terms of Sole Serum, it’s made me realize just how hard it is to start a business. And I want to high-five/hug/butt-slap everyone who has started one and made it successful. It takes so much knowledge and hard work. You, of course, need a great product, but a business can’t survive on that alone. When I was starting out in Ad Sales I never dreamed that I would start a company like this. I wish that I had been more open to learning about all aspects of business (even accounting!), so I would have been more prepared for everything. I’ve only been a mom for two weeks, so it’s hard to say the challenges of balancing parenthood and work. If anything, the challenge is not offending my dog, Sadie, as I used to take pictures of her everyday.   Now my daughter, Curran, overshadows her. Ha! I’m kidding… I’m still obsessed with my dog (I love you, Sadie!).

Me:  What simple advice can you give women wanting to create a beauty product?

Tricia:  Well, this doesn’t just apply to creating a beauty product, but my advice would be to surround yourself with good people! I truly believe that who you’re with is who you become. The fastest way to change yourself is to spend time with those who are already the way you want to be. And while you’re at it, build a great team. No one succeeds in business alone, and those who try will lose to a great team every time. Build your own awesome team to amplify your success.  Oh, and to go back to my point above, always be open to learning all aspects of business. You may create a great product, but if you don’t understand the other parts of your business, you will only limit yourself.

Me:  What other ways do you Sole Serum? I Sole Serum on my many trips to Disneyland.

Tricia:  I love that you use it at Disneyland. YOU HEAR THAT, DISNEY? You should sell this at your parks : ) I love to use it before I take a spin class. The shoes always seems to pinch my feet half way through the class, but when I use Sole Serum, I am good until class ends…and beyond.  Also, this has not been tested, but I’ve used Sole Serum on mosquito bites and it kills the need to itch them. So it is clearly a camping necessity : ) Wow… it really is for everyone!

Me:  What future goals do you have for Sole Serum?

Tricia:  We have a couple of really cool things that are in the works, and I’m super excited about them all. First, we are working with a team that is trying to bring us into Target (woohoo!). Hopefully, you will see us in a Shoe Department end-cap in 2016. We are also working on getting Sole Serum into Ulta (amazing!), so keep your eyes peeled for it to be in their Impulse Towers sometime this year. Lastly, we are in the process of getting our formula approved to sell on QVC in the EU/UK. We aired multiple times in the U.S., so I’m excited to launch it overseas.

Now some fun questions.

Me: What is your favorite time of the day?

Tricia: I’m an early bird, so my favorite time is super early in the am. I like to feel like I’m up and getting things done before the rest of the world. I especially love the mornings now because my daughter is so cute and alert when she wakes up : )

Me: If you could think of one word to describe yourself, what would it be?

Tricia:  Driven! I’ve just always had the drive to be better and do more both personally and professionally.

Me:  What is your favorite vacation spot in the world that you have either been to or want to visit?

Tricia:  This is too hard to answer, as I have SO MANY places that I still want to visit… Australia, New Zealand, The Maldives, France, Norway, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Maine in the Fall, Toronto… the list goes on and on and on and on… I better get started asap!

Me:  What is the one thing on your bucket list you want to accomplish first?

Tricia:  Luckily I’ve already fulfilled some of my bucket list (sky diving and shark cages!), but you could really choose any of the destinations above. Hey – we are only here once, so we have to see what we can while we’re here : )

Me:  Coffee or tea?

Tricia:  Coffee – I’m drinking it as I type.

Me:  What is the best part of being a new Mom?

Tricia:  Seeing her cute face in the mornings! But honestly, it’s how much more I’ve fallen in love with my husband. It’s hard to describe, but the minute I saw him crying when she came out, he became more to me than I ever thought possible.

Ladies, Sole Serum is truly a must have product in your purse, although the birth of Sole Serum came from long hours in heels but as you can see Sole Serum can be used in so many other ways.  It’s the perfect size to slip into your purse, no bigger than lipgloss.  Taking it on-the-go, makes it available whenever your feet are in need of major pain relief.  Trust me you will not regret purchasing this product, you will wonder how you went this long without it.

Thank you to Tricia for taking the time out of your busy day to interview with me and look forward to see where Sole Serum pops up next.

Sounds like a fantastic product. I wear heels for my gigs and sometimes my “puppy dogs” kill me. This, may be a great solution.
